Our venue for the first FIF event is the livery hall of the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers, one of the Livery Companies of the City. This may seem formal, dated and possibly imposing however the aim is far more socially concerned. The Furniture Makers' Company is a charity supporting the welfare of workers with the industry of furniture making. Craftspeople who had no where to turn in times of hardship.
Originating less than a kilometre from its current base, its earliest aim was to provide security for members through financial and social support. Run by the funds of the community the areas provide a true support network providing:
*Apprenticeships - teaching and forwarding the individuals skills required to continue the industry.
Grants can be awarded for:
Essential household items
Essential household bills
Funeral expenses
Disabled adaptations
Property repairs considered essential due to age, security or access
Disabled / medical equipment
Respite convalescent breaks
General financial hardship
Pre-tenancy costs and removal costs

The furnishing industry employs around 338,000 people across manufacturing, retail, design and teaching, and in every sector from home, office and garden furniture, fabrics, carpets, flooring, and lighting, to wall coverings, kitchens, bathrooms, and interior design

In its dynamic journey, it's emerged as one of the City of London's most progressive livery companies, continually adapting to serve the industry and its members with dedication and distinction. This venue is a beacon for how community can build, aid and support an industry.
This resonates with FIF and how we wish to amplify and mentor the future individuals of the fashion industry.

Excellent venue selection—the fusion of industry support and tradition fits in perfectly with the theme of your event.
